What's the definition of "holy?"
What and who this title can claim?
How many places and things on earth?
How many persons can you name?

Holiness signifies perfection,
No inherent flaw to mar or stain --
Free from all someone could say or do
That would bring dishonor, profane!

Are there places to go like Mecca
That would absolve one from his sin?
Are there temples and church buildings
That can make one spotless within?

Are there spiritual leaders on earth
Who are infallible and just?
Modeling exemplary lives,
Never yielding to sin and lust?

Are there symbols or idols or rites
That would make one holy and pure?
Are there actions or prayers recited
That would sanctify one for sure?

There's not a thing or place in this world
Not captured by Satan's dread snare.
Heaven alone is free from sin,
And pure we must be to go there.

There's not a man, living or dead,
Who can claim a life without blame.
There is One, and only one person
The mantle of "holy" can claim.

It is Jesus Christ, the Son of God,
Who left Heaven's glory and bliss
To live on earth obediently --
The reason He came was just this:

His sinless life paid the penalty
That no-one in this world could pay --
Taking His gift of Eternal Life
Will render YOU "holy" today!
