Getting to Higher Ground Isn’t Always Easy

Your first steps to higher ground, or the blessings of God, often looks like you are going downhill. Remember, cutting of old habits, people and situations is a messy situation but it gets better.

Joseph saw a dream about being a leader, even over his own family. He was left for dead and then sold by these same brothers, taken to Egypt, thrown in prison and eventually became the 2nd in command over all the land—including his family. He remained true to the Lord, never faltering in his belief.

Daniel was captured with the Israelites, chosen because of his education and abilities to learn and work well with other people—even though they weren’t like him—was thrown into a lion’s den to be torn apart—he lived; was placed in high position because he was true to God and to himself.

What does that have to do with today? I was reminded this morning by the Holy Spirit of a section in God’s Jihad—A Prophetic Chronology (download free) about the date—November 16th. It was 3-years ago this week that I was in New York City on a God-Assignment. Minister Worthey and I were sent to do a revival that didn’t happen but the real assignment was to pray in front of the United Nations building, for the people on the street and to walk through the Manhattan streets praying. The 16th was a day of travail and intercession. The 17th was the real deal—the day that God said, He would show His hand mightily, and He did. Well, here we are 3-years later and what a story!

I was supposed to move to Florida, God sent me back to New York City. I have tried to leave several times and always, without fail, God would send somebody or a situation that would make me stay. Do I want to be here for the next 9/11 episode—not really—but God said that I will be. Is it soon—yes—very soon. Can it be stopped—No! Not by man—but through the intercession of those who know God and truly want it turned around—then will it be averted. The terrorist commission cannot do anything without God’s hand in it.

The prophet Jeremiah had to watch his city be overtaken, leadership either killed or taken into captivity. Elijah had to watch Jezebel and Ahab do their torturous deeds. The prophet can only bring the message—it is up to the people to do the will of the Lord.

I was asked to go to do a 3-day revival this week—I had to turn it down—God won’t let me fly for two more weeks. I realize that is after the 20th or 25th. Do I believe many things have been averted by the government to keep us safe—absolutely and without a doubt. But God said …..

The higher ground we are to get to is a belief that God is in control of every situation based upon our choice—good or evil. He brings blessings and moves us from praying by the river, as did Daniel by the Tigris to getting into the river of the Holy Spirit and being washed of sin and oppression. There is joy when you know the Lord—no matter what faces you.

Today—if Jesus is not part of your life—invite Him in. Receive the blessing of the Holy Spirit to walk with you 24/7. Avert the downhill slide so many go through and look up to the hill from where every blessing comes from.

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepth thee will not slumber.
Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
The Lord is thy keeper; the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.
