    Assuming Responsibility for Concerns I have no authority?

Because of this pandemic, we, ‘golden agers,’ those of us 80 or older are ‘shut-in’s.’ Greater caution is observed because our weaker resistance against infection. Certainly my wife even more so, because of her fight against acute leukemia. When I drive her to the hospital for her chemo treatments, we’re are challenged to rest upon God’s preeminence and shield of protection.

Besides all these, taking the shield of faith, with which you can quench all the flaming darts of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints. Ephesians 6:16-18 RSV

Sometimes in these days of testing to be ‘steadfast in Christ,’ we’re challenged to the point of being overcome with emotional uncertainty. Satan will bring thoughts upon us that are outright lies. Anxiety might set in to keep us from finding grace and joy for the hope given us from God.

I love praying scripture, because I know, I’m taking hold ‘The Sword of the Spirit.’ My own ‘helmet of salvation,’ becomes my confidence and promise of God’s authority over me. My focus will shift from fear, to praising God with thankfulness, regardless of circumstances around me. In this way I’m not assuming responsibility for things I have no authority over.

Father, thank you for the protection and multitude of promises given me, as I search out my hope for things not understood, but finding your ‘way of escape,’ over things I cannot control.
