God Is In Charge of What Happens on Planet Earth

It all started at the beginning when God created Planet Earth (Genesis 1:1). He then hung the Earth in empty space (Job 26:7). Next, as God sits on His throne in heaven He decided to use the Earth as His footstool (Isaiah 66:1). He also eternally sustains the Earth and holds everything together (Colossians 1:16-17).

     As the earth begins to populate after some time there was evil continually with no desire for God, so God judged the earth with a worldwide flood, only sparing the family of Noah (Genesis 6-8). People once again became very boastful leaving God out as they all spoke the same language, so God developed the different languages and scattered people abroad over the earth (Genesis 11:4-9). God assigns appointed times for people to live and the boundaries of their habitation (Acts 17:26). Then as generations go by, God permitted all the nations to go their own ways (Acts 14:16).

     God began monitoring the inhabitants on the Earth, looking down from above to see how many people were truly seeking after Him (Psalm 33:13-14 and 53:2-3).

     Humanity still was not getting it right, so about 2,000 years ago God manifested himself in human flesh and came down to earth to show humans how to live righteously and godly. They did not want to do that, even after Jesus died on the cross for each person’s sins and physically and bodily rose from the dead!

     As God observes the pride of humanity that has gone its own way, He sits in heaven and laughs (Psalm 2:2-5). At the same time God is at work doing whatever He pleases on the Earth (Psalm 135:6-7).

     Now, in 2020, the world has still rejected God, and gone its own way in pride and materialism, with rampant evil and immorality. So God allowed a contagious pestilence and plague called the Coronavirus to overtake the world as a warning and opportunity for people to call upon his mercy and grace.

     God is keeping the Earth for judgment of ungodly people (II Thess. 3:7). However, it will be restored. There will be a new Earth where only righteousness dwells (II Peter 3:13).

     There are many other passages that show that God is in control. Nothing catches Him by surprise. He causes some things; He allows other things to happen on the Earth. Some things are God’s doing, but other things are actions and consequences that God allows by people who are created with a free will to accept or reject God and His ways.

     God is in control of what happens on Planet Earth. He is all-knowing, all-powerful, and sovereign, but always reaching out in grace, love, and mercy to all who call upon Him.
