                               Don’t Be Casual with God!

“If you do well, will not your countenance be lifted up? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it.” Genesis 4:7 NASB

We all know the incident here, when two brothers presented offerings to God, when one brother’s gift was accepted and the other’s was of lesser value.

Today we witness this concern within our own homes and family’s. Our society prevails with contention and self-centered goals or ambitions. People are no different today than when Cain took Abel’s life.  

Our focus is too much on self, when resentment might find opportunity to prevail. Our energy is used up through jealousy or envy because we’re not desiring to please our Lord. Ingratitude is something we display too much, and results in our separation from the power of God’s presence.

Jesus said it so well; “for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Mathew 6:21

Doing anything from selfishness or conceit is not going to allow us to bear fruit worthy of honoring our Lord. Growing and learning to count others better than ourselves is the beginning of learning humility, and Godly wisdom.  

We live so much in a world where even we who wear the name ‘Christian’ become inhibited by the senseless world around us. We choose ‘self’ over purpose to honor or Lord.

Presenting ourselves to pray the ‘Lord’s Prayer’: “Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy will be done….”

I concern myself when we might be so casual with our words to others and to God; because we’re too careless with life.
