               Satan bites even though he’s defeated

 “Be sober, be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking some one to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experience of suffering is required of your brotherhood throughout the world.´
1 Peter 5: 8-9RSV

Earlier this year, Allison Chiu, reporter from the Washington Post shared a story of forty-year old Jeremy Sutcliffe. He killed a diamondback rattlesnake in his backyard by chopping the snakes head off with his shovel. Ten minutes later, the snake’s mouth snapped and dug its fangs into Jeremy’s hand. A helicopter rushed him to the hospital where it took 26 doses of antivenom to save his life. Jeremy was told a snake’s decapitated head still has the ability to bite for as long as an hour.

This snake bite on Jeremy Sutcliffe was out to destroy. In all our daily living we’re challenged by a world around us filled with evil, to destroy. The adversary, like the roaring lion will not stop even though he’s lost the battle.

Because Jesus, our advocate to the Father, has overcome all unrighteousness and wickedness thrown at us every day. As a ‘follower of the Way,’ we’re provided the way of escape.

“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your strength, but with the temptation will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it” 1 Corinthians 10:13

God’s word is authority and power for wisdom to discern; “It will be healing to your flesh and refreshmentto your bones.” Proverbs 3:8
