I met a lady several years ago who was going through a most difficult time. All she could think of was the troubles and the worries of this world. She told me she would try to read her bible and even try to pray but all that she could think about were her own problems.

God revealed to me that she needed a mind transplant. She needed a new mind. If we are going to continue to strive for holy lives in our old mindset we might as well consider the inevitable defeat.

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.(Romans 12: 2).” NIV

One of our first major steps in becoming Christ-like is to have the mind of Christ in every circumstance. Isn’t it wonderful that we can know exactly what God is thinking about our situation? For me that is a great peace giver. When I apply the mind of Christ to my daily life, I find that I am less critical, less cynical and less sinful. I find in me the joy of the Lord. I find peace that can only be found in the Prince of Peace. I find hope and comfort and determination to seek after Him all the more.

Are you in need of a mind transplant today? Have today’s worries taken the joy of Christ from you? Ask God to give you His mind. For in that moment you will be set free from the pattern of this world as the above scripture Romans 12:2 is talking about. You can start to develop a new pattern for your life. A pattern that is Christ minded and Christ centered as well as being filled with joy!

Lord I surrender
All my thoughts to you
Keep my mind pure
And filled with Your truth

And should I stumble Lord,
I ask that you forgive
And show me your mind today,
So I might truly live!
