I was raised by a single mother, who in love sought to give me all that I desired.
She sacrificed comfortable things for herself, to give to an ungrateful liar.

This attribute of giving was shown, and taught to me at a very young age.
What did I give them in return for their many kindnesses? Ingratitude, hate, sin, and rage.

I knew not then nor would I have cared that the Lord said it is more blessed to give, than to receive.
If we will only do this then we receive good measure, pressed down, shaken up, and running over, if we only believe.

I want a heart like this, not in thought only but one that expresses itself in outward, kind, giving deeds.
I want a heart that naturally seeks to better my fellow man, a heart that believes it is more blessed to give, than to receive.

Unlike Joseph’s brothers that give him wrath, and hate when they sold him off to be a slave to satisfy their scorn.
They also reaped in good measure for their actions as their families nigh starved, while Joseph had plenty of corn.

Joseph broke this cycle of hatred as he repaid their ill deeds with kindness by sustaining their families with good things.
For the Lord had worked in his life and taught him that it is more blessed to give than to receive.

It is easy to give to those that are kind but I want the spirit Joseph had to be kind to those that treat me with hate, and spite.
Then I will be able to see how I score on the test of kindness, and giving, this can only be done in the power of God’s might.

Lord give to me a giving heart, give me a heart that rejoices in others good fortune, regardless of their relation to me.
Give me a heart that truly believes that it is more blessed to give than to receive.

How much more victorious my Christian life could be if I reach this level of believing it is more blessed to give than to receive.
And all the while I’ll be receiving good measure, pressed down, shaken up, and running over more than I can believe.

There is plenty of room at this level, so no need to fear about being over-crowded, or pushed out.
Lord work in me a giving heart, a giving spirit, one that desires to make a difference in this life is what living is all about.

The abundant life awaits, remember JOY is Jesus, Others, and notice You are at the end.
Give and it shall be given you, pressed down, shaken up, and running over, this sure beats the life I lived before in sin.
