This is No Fairy Tale

            Why did God give us the free will to do as we choose to do? Because of the love that God knew could exist between Himself and us. It is one of the greatest gifts that God ever gave to us, to be free-willed. God constituted a will in man, to then be exercised by that man. This gives us dignity and honor, and it’s one of our greatest attributes according to God’s original design. God did not design us to be robots, but rather men and women who out of our own free will, can choose to love Him.

            This revelation shows us that God is a relational being and created us for the purpose to share in a holy love affair with Himself. The startling thing is that God never needed us or to be in a relationship with us. He is completely self-existent and whole within Himself. God is and has been completely happy, joyful and loved in and of His very own Self. He has been in a continuous, unbroken, unbridled and perfectly loving relationship solely within Himself before the foundation of the world i.e., God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit all One. Co-love, co-equal, co-relational, One.

            So how can God be love and thus need to be loved. Because He ordained and willed that we be made to be loved by Himself first, and then, we get to return that same love back to Him by our own free-will. Even more incredible is the fact that God, by His own foreknowledge, knew that mankind would reject His love, and would choose to love the very thing that God hates the most: sin. There are no words that can possibly be stated as to what mankind did to God, “And the Lord God said, “what is this you have done?” (Genesis 3:13, NKJ).

            This is not written to our shame, but rather to God’s glory. Because even though these are the facts, we still hold great and infinite value to God, i.e., the cross. And remember, the shame of what we did to God was nailed to the cross with Christ and it died with Him there. But He has risen to live again, so we no longer have to live under the burden of this. God has declared “it’s over, so come and enter back into my love.” God’s love and heart for us is simply indescribable.
