After Jesus eat the Passover with his disciples, one named Judas was hardened.
Judas going to the Chief Priests, while Jesus went to pray over the brook Cedron where was a garden.

Judas knew of the place, for the Lord retreated there with his disciples many times before.
He had received a band of men, with officers, and Pharisees, with lanterns, weapons, and torch.

Jesus stepped forward to meet them, and asked them who it was that they come to seek?
They say unto him Jesus of Nazareth, he saith I am he, they all fell back to the ground when these words he did speak.

He told them if it be me that you seek, let all these others go their own way, possibly to their own homes.
This was done to fulfill prophecy of those which thou gavest me, have I lost none.

Peter draws out a sword, and quickly cuts off Malchus, the High Priests servants ear.
Jesus heals Malchus, and rebukes Peter, shall I not drink of the cup my Father has given me here.

The soldiers were now able to come off the ground, and bind Jesus, and lead him away to Annas first.
For he was the Father-in-law to Caiaphas the High Priest that year so into his house they burst.

Now it was Caiaphas that had given counsel that it was expedient that one person for the nation should die.
It mattered not to Caiaphas how Jesus was brought, even if it meant he must be brought in on a foundation of lies.

Simon Peter followed, and another disciple that was known unto the High Priest was let in for this charade.
The other disciple spoke to the keeper of the door, and then Peter was let in the palace by a little maid.

She boldly asks Peter, “Art thou not one of his disciples”, and Peter declares that “no I am not”.
The servants and officers made a fire of coals for it was cold. Peter was found with them warming himself in that spot.

The High Priest comes in and asks Jesus of his doctrine, and his disciples. For all his disciples had fled.
Jesus replies I spake openly in the synagogue, in secret I have said nothing. Why don’t you ask them what I said.

An officer standing by smites Jesus with the palm of his hand, and said. “answerest the High Priest so?”
Jesus rebukes him, “If I spake evil, bear witness of the evil, if not, why smites thou me?” yet their enmity they would show.

One standing around the coals of fire asks Peter, art not thou one of his disciples. Peter again refutes.
A kinsman to Malchus said, did not I see thee in the garden, Peter denies again and immediately the cock crew.

It is early in the morning now, and Jesus being led from Caiaphas to the Judgment Hall, before Pilate to stand.
Pilate comes out and asks what accusations do you bring to me against this man?

They replied if he were not a malefactor we would not have wasted the time bringing him to thee.
Pilate said you take him and judge him according to your law, but they want him put to death can’t you see.

This was done that the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled, signifying by what death he should die.
For the Jews this was unlawful, but if he could be sentenced by Pilate, then Jesus must be crucified.

Pilate enters the judgment hall, and asks Jesus, tell me art thou the King of the Jews?
Jesus answers, sayest thou this of thyself, or did others tell it thee of me, but Pilate refused.

He said am I a Jew, thine own nation, and Chief Priests delivered thee to me, tell me what hast thou done?

Jesus told him, my kingdom is not from hence. If so my servants would fight to keep me from being delivered to this throne.

Pilate asks him again, Art thou a King then? Knowest thou not I have power to release, or crucify thee?
Jesus says, thou sayest I am a King, and to this end was I born to bear witness of the truth, and all of truth heareth me.

Pilate replies, What is truth? He then returns to the Jews and said that I find no fault in him at all.
He then asks the Jews, for it was custom whom shall I release to you, the King of the Jews, but for Barrabas did they call.

He took Jesus and scourged him, his soldiers put a purple robe on him, plaited him with a crown of thorns, and brought him in.
Pilate tells them again I find no fault in him, the officers, and priests cry aloud crucify him, crucify him.

The Jews cried aloud this man made himself to be the Son of God, and according to our law he must die is what Pilate heard.
Pilate was the more afraid after hearing that and goes back to Jesus again Whence art thou? But Jesus answers not a word.

Pilate marvels, knowest thou not I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee?
Jesus finally answers that if not from above, Pilate you could have no power at all over me.

Pilate sought again to release Jesus but the Jews cried out the more, thou art not a friend of Ceasar if thou release him.
Pilate again, but he is your King, but they cry aloud over and over again, we have no king but Ceasar, crucify him.

So Pilate delivered Jesus to be crucified, bearing his cross to the place called Golgotha, or the place of a skull.
The soldiers parted his raiment between them, as another fulfilling of scripture against a people that were most dull.

Some women stood by the cross, one of which was Mary, the mother of Jesus, the disciple whom Jesus loved, and others.
He told his mother, woman, behold thy son, and to the disciple whom he loved he said son behold thy mother.

There were two thieves crucified with Jesus, one on each side drinking the fruit of their way was bitter dregs.
Then the Roman soldiers come by as was their custom, and broke both of the thieves legs.

They brake not the legs of the Lord Jesus that the scripture be fulfilled, a bone of him shall not be broken.
After Jesus was offered vinegar to drink, he said it is finished, and these were the last words to be spoken

Judas having betrayed him, had went back to the Chief Priests, proclaimed I have sinned and threw down the silver pieces.
He went and hanged himself having betrayed the innocent blood and could find no place for forgiveness.

Behold the vail of the temple was rent in twain, darkness filled the land, the earth did quake, and graves opened in the sod.
The Roman Centurion standing by and witnessing these things said Truly this was the Son of God.

And truly he is the Son of God, and he is alive and well and now invites us to live in the power of his might.
Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, take my yoke upon you and learn of me for my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
