Can any mortal man fully understand the fact that we have Jesus as our friend
For most of the friends we’ve had in this life, their friendships can come to an end.

He is the Friend that the bible speaks of, when saying that there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother.
In times of greatest heartache and overwhelming burdens he is ever present when you can find no other.

He is a friend that is ever near in the times of our greatest joy, for he desires us to live a fruitful life.
But he is also near in the most troubling of times, times when our thinking is wrong, in times of envy, and strife.

I’ve oft thought of Job’s friends that came and sat with him for seven days with nothing to eat, not speaking a word.
His friendship with me far excels any earthly friendship, so much stronger than any three fold cord.

He marched with the Children of Israel as they fearfully marched around Jericho’s Great, and mighty wall.
He was ever present with them, even as they were able to behold this great barrier fall.

He was a friend of the Hebrew children, even condescending to join with them in the hottest of fires.
He was also the friend of a small child hidden among bulrushes, and made him, the daughter of Pharoah, to desire.

He was the best friend of Joseph as he was sold into slavery, then stayed with him as he was exalted to Pharoah’s court.
He was also a friend to Daniel as he was cast into the den of lions, and made the lions their savage nature to abort.

He was the friend of a young boy named David, and helped him protect his sheep by slaying a lion, and a bear.
He was ever present with David as before Goliath he stood, and helped him drop that giant with very little care.

The Lord Jesus was Peter’s friend as he loosed his shackles, and then led him beyond the prison walls.
He also stood right with Stephen as the angry crowd stoned him after laying their garments at the feet of Saul.

With all these documented true life experiences, how can anyone doubt that Jesus is our very best friend.
And he will remain ever with us, through every trial, affliction, and happy moment until this world’s end.

True is the song’s lyrics, what a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins, and griefs to share.
What a priviledge it is to be able to carry, everything to Jesus in prayer.
