Sight Within

Our sight can impede our vision. For instance, we may see things as being concrete such as good vs. bad; pretty vs. ugly; rich vs. poor and other common analogies. Our perception can have a negative affect on us and be deceitful.

For example, when we struggle to rid our financial debt, and then see someone else who is financially independent, we can easily covet their status and become envious, which can destruct us internally. Another example is when our happiness turns into depression, and we witness someone smiling and laughing often, we again, may desire to experience joy as we see it. But, from what we see on the surface always has underlying circumstances. Is financial freedom really freedom, and is a smile masked pain?

We spend a lot of energy looking on the outside and letting it control our inner sight. When we are deceived by our sight, we forget the many things we already have such as life itself along with an array of talents.

Life, and our own lives are something to be grateful for and not taken for granted. We should spend no time comparing our lives to others, omit criticism towards others for the sake of our own satisfaction, and restrict our time of complaining. If we compare and compete with one another all the time, we limit our own growth, success, and ruin loving friendships because we block our own reach, disallowing God to maximize our personal success.

A key point to remember when focusing on the outside, is our souls are more precious than our sight. They are the creators of what we see. We make what we put value on – material goods. Hence, we should be appreciative of ourselves; for we hold the power in what we value. Our souls are our minds and bodies. They are more than our flesh; therefore we should embrace them and never want, always looking from within.

If we rely on God to guide our spirit we will attain true sight - “the eye of the heart and soul.”

See with your soul-
