"Made in America" - by Edward J. McCoul
There is a saying that is music to my ears.
The words were the same through the years.
It always put a smile on my face.
We were leaders in the industrial race.
I am talking about words that ring true,
"Made in America". That's what we do.
A trademark of quality if ever I knew.
We loved to make things brand new.
I am proud of America and so are you.
With firm resolve we must start anew
Making, "Made In America", come true
For a better country for me and you.
Whatever happened to that fiery spark
That set hard working Americans apart?
Let us endeavor to get that old habit back
That made us respected leaders of the pack.
With determination through and through
And help from above, all things we can do.
We can do it; to our calling, hold true.
We are the Red, White, and Blue.
When the chips are down,
Wipe off that long faced frown.
Get up and stand in pride.
Defeat is something we Americans can override.
Remember the war and how we all did rise
To the call to help our nation turn the tide.
We all heard that call from deep inside.
Our country's plea stirred up our pride.
We made things with no time to think.
That included making the kitchen sink,
Munitions, and planes as quick as a blink.
We rose to the occasion a country at the brink.
Recall The Great Depression, so ominous,
How it almost devastated a lot of us.
We rose up out of the muddled mire
To build a nation of purposeful people for hire.
I am telling you what we need to do.
I am imploring you to put laziness behind.
A new undefeated attitude we must find.
Victory like most things starts within you.
We must no longer adhere to that saying,
"The world owes me a living".
We will get former things back by paying
Our dues to our country by selfless giving.
It is time to rise up dormant you
To the call of greatness you must pursue.
Let's work together each doing our part
For a better America today we must start!
I have spoken my peace with concern.
It is something for which you must yearn.
Wake up and read the writing on the wall.
"For success get started and do not stall!"
I am proud of America and so are you.
With firm resolve we must start anew
Making, "Made In America", come true
For a better country for me and you.
