Marriage

Can it be you've lived together this long
And still your marriage is not very strong?

You "tolerate" each other, yes,
But show little love, you must confess.

You have not learned to listen aright --
It takes so little to cause a fight!

You see "her" as stubborn, as she sees you,
You're both overly sensitive, too.

She picks on your faults and hers are easy to find
-- and past offenses so quickly come to mind!

Resentment has built to such a degree
That the other's point of view is so hard to see.

It's difficult to talk things out, for anger
soon takes hold,
And nothing can seem to melt the deep and
icy cold.

Your problems you never seem to mend
Since neither one seems willing to bend.

You must seek to put one another first
And not rush to thinking the very worst.

You need to be tender, patient and kind,
No matter how great the disappointment you find.

If you both put the Lord first in your life,
You'll find His answers to marital strife.
