Q.  Should a Christian ever disobey the government, and when?

       This is a hard Question, but I will be answering it in my opinion by using the story of the situation that Peter and the apostles were in, the part of this story I will be using is found in Acts 5:25-29.

         Here is the verses:

  “Then someone came and said ‘Look! The men you put in jail are standing in the temple courts teaching the people.’ At that, the captain went with his officers and brought the apostles. They did not use force, because they feared that people would stone them.

      “The apostles were brought in and made to appear before the Sanhedrin to be questioned by the high priest ‘We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name,’ he said. ‘Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us guilty of this man’s blood’

      “Peter and the other apostles replied: ‘We must obey God rather than human beings!’

   I think that we should respect the government that God has put in place for us, but I also think that God deserves more respect than the earthly government. We should do our best to respect what that government says, or at least respect the laws that he/she has put in place, but I do believe that when they are asking us to do something that disobeys Gods law(s) we should go with Gods law, but not disrespect the government with our words or actions. I think that if we must be in that situation that God will give us the strength to stand up for what we believe and that He will protect us from harm. If we do not do this and we do not stand up for Him, that does not mean that He will not forgive us, but it is always best to try.
