Just the other day, I was sharing with friends the first time my and my wife’s families gathered together for a Holiday. She with her 8 brothers and sisters and me with my 9, would make for a very formidable group. Add to it the 40 or so nieces and nephews, and you have the makings for a memorable occasion. Though we never assembled that many people at one time again, we still reflect back on how we survived.
Now that we moved to another state, we don’t see family nearly as much as we did or would like to. But we do have memories, not all perfect, but fond memories of the joy of fellowshipping with family.
No matter how much the present seemingly alters the past, we must tell ourselves that it is not so. The only thing the present can do to the past is reaffirm it. Even as age robs us of memories, it too does not and cannot change what took place yesterday.
There is only one thing you need to remember about the past? We must remember that Jesus Christ has not changed and will not change; He is immutable. This means that all He promised you , is still on the table. Your mistakes cannot change Him either. The promise of long life for those who honor their parents, cannot change. The promise of Eternal life through belief in His son, cannot change.
The promises of yesterday are still intact. Praise God. Father, we thank you for a love that cannot be altered by yesterday. Thank you for your promises and your love. In Jesus name: AMEN
