CLAIMING THE BLESSING
Blessed is he that reads and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those 1hings which are written therein: for the time Is at hand. (Revelation 1 :3)
In our first lesson, we talked about how the word "Revelation'' described that God was uncovering information in order for us to know and understand it. In the verse before us we see a promise give,n by God that true understanding will result in our receiving a blessing. That is a blessing that God wants us to claim. However, like most promises in the word of God, there are conditions which are necessary for us to follow in order to make these promises our own.
The first step In receiving this blessing is that we must read," Blessed is he who reads". Now if you are blind or deaf there are other media's available, however, for those of us who are. able to read, we must take the time. Reading requires concentration and often a quiet place without distract
The second step Is described by the words" they that hear''. That goes beyond reading and results in understanding. Sometimes we have to read slowly and repeatedly until we receive understanding. That takes time.
The third step is found In the words, "and keep those things", That involves two stages. The first stage is the word reflection. That means to. take time to. think about how that applies to my life and the possible changes that I need to. make. The second stage has to do with submission. Once understanding is complete our faith is intact, then we submit our lives to. follow those steps.
Often blessings require hard work in order to receive them (sometimes there is more than one) but it is worth the effort that we make to. receive the reward of being faithful.
