                           Daily Spiritual Renewal

It came to pass in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan River.
 Mark 1:9 NKJV

Jesus, who had no sins to repent from shows His identity with mankind and his fallen nature. Think about what happened, Jesus in all His deity, asking Cousin John to baptize Him, who had no need of repentance. Did it not also foreshadow Jesus’ own death, burial, and resurrection, in promise of new birth to those who follow Christ? Identifying with our Lord through baptism becomes mankind’s journey of promise and hope not yet experienced.

Jesus was identifying John’s work of bringing others to see their need from living for self; to begin a ‘growing and learning’ process by faith to the Father’s will. As we read of this act of obedience from Jesus, we’re witnessing this event that happened long ago, as if it was occurring presently. Many may not have understood this event was for our need, to bring us to the One who by His obedience, is still seeking for hearts to seek Him.

The Apostle Paul said it so well in his letter to Titus. ‘But when the kindness and love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit.’ Titus 3:4-5 NKJV.

Nothing in our frailty and human deficiency would ever meet the need for our receiving a daily regeneration for Spiritual renewal; except through what our Lord Jesus did for us. He led the way for us through His baptism.
