"The Night Freedom Reigned"

"Dim the lights, dim the lights; pass it on.
We must make everything dark as night.
Every citizens, every window, every light."
Freedom's Light, they wanted to prolong.

"The British must not use them for aim.
Merciful Hand of God, keep them back
Send them back from whence they came."
That night all night long freedom did reign.

Baltimore's Fort McHenry did withstand
The Mighty British cannon's command.
Every blast bravely endured; they must.
America's Flag stood on past the dusk.

Shrinking dismayed at no war desolation,
And dazed at America's determination,
19 British ships left in a disgruntled daze.
American Resistance did truly amaze.

On America's Pilgrimage of seeking liberty,
God's Loving Arm, for us, did intercede.
We give thanks to You, Oh Lord, Our God,
Who protects and disciplines with His Rod.

1800 rockets, exploding cannon balls,
Mortar shells, from British ships did rain,
And lit the sky up; but freedom reigned.
In dawn's light God's Victory we all recall.

"Our Flag stands." noted, Francis, a poet.
All the citizens were relieved to know it.
25 hrs. of continual British Bombardment
Proved America's Patriotic Commitment.

The Stars and Stripes did fly for all to see.
It stood waving in early morning breeze.
Gently signaling then above Fort McHenry,
America stood the test with Spirit's Ease.
