"Ah, Jonah"

Jonah was an avid Israelite patriot of a sort
He went finally to Nineveh as a last resort.
He didn't want Israel's enemies to repent.
Heading in another direction was his intent.

Jonah went and got a boat to go to Tarshish.
Instead of continuing, he ended up in a fish.
"Lord we beseech Thee; let us not perish!"
He got thrown overboard; Jonah got his wish.

Jonah got swallowed by a great big creature.
That was not your typical Bible Story Feature.
He stayed inside the fish's belly for three days.
Arriving at Nineveh he did see the light of day.

He preached to The Ninevites; they did repent.
Perhaps hearing of his great fish tale helped.
Pagans liked Jonah; Christ, Jews did resent.
After Christ rose Hebrew Faith also developed.

From complacency God's ways can prod you.
He can make it clear what He wants you to do.
Don't take a fast ship in the opposite direction.
You do not want to be in any fish for correction.
