I Denied My Christ

Walking along the road of fear
I searched and didn't find you
Running across the path of doom
You spoke, I didn't hear you

Consumed by weakness, fueled by rage
Pained by burden I did not understand
I turned your book and skipped the page
That could have given me my stand

Guilt consumed me far beyond,
Shame for my reckless hand!
I searched and didn't find your shadow,
I fell and missed to follow

I wept and called, you didn't hear me
I screamed with all I had
For your name I tried to
Flee from my command

And yet as time slipped from my grasp
Darkness covered all I knew
Satan stood before me and asked:
"Where is your most trustworthy God?"

I groveled on the dirt,
I laughed without mirth!
I searched and didn't find you
I fell and failed and all my resolve, like sand disappeared behind you

"I know him not!"
I spoke without a doubt
"He isn't my God!"
The words flew from my mouth

Then loneliness I've never felt before
Approached and barred all my open doors
Satan's hollow laugh filled my mind
His hand dragged me away from thine

But like a light an angel appeared
He reached down and pulled me up
"Who is you God?" he asked
"Who saved you from the pit of doom?"

The gnashing and the weeping stopped
The Devil's laughter was cut short
As you approached with thy hands outstretched
Pierced and broken for my sake

"My God!" I cried and fell on my knees.
"My child." you said. "I'll give you peace."
And in your loving embrace I flew
Happy that I am finally with you

"Where were you?" I did ask.
"I searched and didn't find you."
You smiled and forgave me with these words:
"My daughter, I was ahead,
clearing the way because I love you."


A/n: A fanfiction at http://fanfiction.net (Anime, HunterXHunter) contained blatant blasphemies against God. My stubborness drove me to concern myself with this, and in order to somehow change my status as I rebuked the authors, I denied my Lord by saying I am not a Christian, I felt that if I talked to them as a non-Christian, they would not think me bias.

God clearly told me not to have anything to do with this matter, but I rebelled against him out of anger. I hated it that people blasphemed him, but he was not with me, so I failed to be able to do anything about it anyways. I failed to see that God is more powerful than any blasphemers in the world...and in His time, He will let all see His glory.
