Praying Promises

‘Until now you have asked nothing in my name; ask, and you will receive, that you joy may be full.’ [John 16:24 NKJV]

When I consider what brings fulfillment and calm, I look first to the promises our Lord gives in His word. The real treasure comes from having God’s word in one’s own heart. Praying scripture can in many instances; help us recognize the treasure we’re seeking can be right before us when reading, meditating, and memorizing scripture.

Our Lord knows where our treasure is, ‘If you say, “Surely we did not know this;” Does not He who weighs the hearts consider it? He who keeps your soul, does He not know it? And will He not render to each man according to his deeds?’ [Proverbs 24:12] Recognizing He knows us better than we know ourselves, desire for transparency and intellectual honesty with our Lord; will bring us closer to becoming more Christlike in our daily walk by faith.

‘For the creation was subjected to futility, not of its own will but by the will of him who subjected it in hope.’ Romans 8:20RSV The years I’ve lived ‘In Christ’ and time spent daily reading through His Holy Word; I’ve learned to dedicate each day to Him, waiting upon the power of His presence. He has shown me grace from thousands of His promises, for the hope of unseen things yet to come.
As I view what’s in this material world around us, I delight myself more in God’s word with thanksgiving, because I know praying for His promises are far greater than my expectations.
