I choose this topic because I have also experienced the pains that a divorce can bring and I have come to understand God's emotion why he hates it from my own experience. Divorce can be a terrible and painful process for all parties involved. But the Lord hates divorce he has mentioned in his word in Malachi 2:14-16 that he hath witnessed between thee and the wife of thy youth against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion and the wife of thy covenant. Did not he make one? yet he hath the residue of the spirit and wherefore one that he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth. For the Lord God of Israel hateth putting away: For one covereth violence with his garments saith the Lord of hosts. Therefore take heed to your Spirit that ye deal not treacherously. God's plan for man and woman started when he created man, he gave him a place in the Garden of Eden and a job to do which was to tend the garden. It was God who said it's not good for man to be alone, I will make a help suitable for him. So thee Lord created all the beasts of the field and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them: and what so ever Adam called every creature that was the name thereof. So Adam named all cattle and the fowls of the air and every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an helpmeet for him. So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam and he slept: and he took one of his ribs and he closed up the flesh thereof; And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, he made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. Adam said this is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken from out of man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and mother and shall cleave unto his wife and they shall be one flesh. So this is God's order of marriage that a man cleave unto his wife and also said what he puts together let no man put asunder. The Lord hates divorce because even he himself had an unfaithful wife whom he had to divorce which is an example of Israel the church which is his Bride for committing spiritual whoredoms with other Gods. For he said say ye unto your brethren, Ammi; and to your sisters, Ruha-mah. Plead with your she is not my wife, neither am I her husband: let her therefore put way her whoredoms out of her sight, and her adulteries from between her breasts. Lest I strip her naked and set her as a wilderness and set her like a dry land, and slay her with thirst. And I will not have mercy upon her children; for they be the children of whoredoms.For their mother hath played the harlot: she that hath conceived them hath done shamefully: for she said, I will go after my lovers, that give me my bread and my water, and my wool and my flax fo, my oil and my drink. Therefore, behold I will hedge up thy way with thorns, and make a wall, that she shall not find her paths. And she shall follow after her lovers, but she shall not overtake them; and she shall seek them, but shall not find them: then shall she say I will go and return to my first husband; for then was it better with me than now. For she did not know that I gave her corn, and wine and oil, and multiplied her silver and gold, which they prepared for Baal. Therefore will I return, and take away my corn in the time thereof, and my wine in the season thereof, and will recover my wool and my flax given to cover her nakedness. So the Lord divorced Israel his bride the church for committing spiritual adultery by worshipping other Gods. So the God of Israel hates divorce. So even though in the world divorces are happening everyday it still doesn't change what God has said and he witnesses your first covenant and he only can separate you. It so happens in Hollywood that men and woman marry and remarry multiple times but God says whosoever shall put away his wife except it be for fornication and marry another committeth adultery. So only God gives the grounds for divorce only if your spouse has cheated. But the Lord's actual words was I say unto, That whosoever shall put away his wife saving for the cause of fornication causes her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery Matt 5:32. So the only grounds Jesus gave for divorce was for fornication and fornication is a broader term which also emphasizes sexual sin but it also can encompass a range of sin which seperates you from God. For example God considered idolatry in 2Chronicles 21:11 and forsaking him for the world Isaiah 23:17, Ezekiel 16:29 to be fornication as well. So this is the only grounds he gave for divorce. But divorce is a terrible thing and only the Devil seeks to separate what God puts together for in the beginning God made man and woman one flesh so if you're one flesh picture your body you cannot split the body and the other half walks away it becomes an dysfunctional body. But I know that I made the wrong decision in my choosing of a mate for my not seeking the Lord first but marriage is suppose to be the blessing of two people who love each other where nothing but death can sever that relationship and that's where the vows come in till death do us part comes in. But God has given the instructions and when not followed that opens the door wide for the Devil whose ultimate purpose is to rob, steal and kill and he loves destroying what God out together. So in conclusion divorce is painful option because when you truly are in love with someone and you know you have been faithful but not the other it's a tearing apart of the body and that pain can be excruciating because I have felt it before and only the Lord can heal and make whole again what that pain brings so that's why I believe he hates it so much.
