“The Door Is Closing (Are You In Or Out?).
By
Calvin J. Moss
Jesus says in St. Matthew 25 1-13, “Then shall the Kingdom of Heaven be likened unto ten virgins which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom, and five of them were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them. But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. At midnight, there was a cry made, behold the bridegroom cometh; go ye, out to meet him. Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. The foolish said unto the wise, give us of your oil, for our lamps are gone out. The wise answered, saying not so lest there be not enough for us and you. But, go ye rather to them that sell and buy for yourselves. While they went to buy, the bridegroom came. They that were ready went in with him to the marriage and the door was shut. Afterward, came also the other virgins, saying Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answered and said verily I say unto you, I know you not. Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour where in the son of man cometh.
My scripture of reference comes from verse 10: “And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him into the marriage: and the door was shut. The thought that I leave you with is the door is closing: are you in or out? Many people (unsaved) play games with Salvation. They know that Jesus is coming but they refuse to make the first move. Tomorrow is not promised to anyone. These people could go to sleep and wake up in hell, yet these individuals refuse to get with Jesus. A little marijuana, a little alcohol, a little more of this and that and then I will be ready is what they say. God is a longsuffering God and it is not his will that anyone perishes but receives everlasting life. The sinner man must not be lax about Salvation because although death awaits him around every corner, God`s grace is so sufficient. What could man tell God if he died and was not saved but was warned?
1 Peter 4:18 says: “And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?” Especially when he or she knows the way. God does not play games and neither does the devil! See, Satan does not want you to walk through the door that is Christ. He wants you to take detours that lead to death. Everyday as the world grows darker, the return of Christ draws nearer.
We also have our brothers and sisters in Christ who frequent clubs and bars who are living a contradictory lifestyle, but on Sunday, they become Christians. We must not to be like the foolish five, but like the wise five. Our lamps must be filled with oil all day. In other words, we have to walk the straight and narrow that leads to life.
In first Peter 5:8 we are told to be vigilant. The word vigilant, means to stay awake, to watch. So we must watch because the hour of Christ return is not known (St. Matthew 24:36). We must possess a Christ conscious day by day because the door is closing. St. Matthew 24:39 says: “For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating, drinking, marrying, giving in marriage until the day that Noe entered into the Ark, and knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the son of man be. The door is closing. Are you in or out? Amen.
