I Delight in your work

I take delight in my people – your joys and your daily life. I delight in your pleasures when they are according to my will and design. I smile when you smile and laugh when you laugh. I want you to be happy, but not insensible – to be joyful, but not irreverent, to laugh but not be scornful. I want you to delight in me, and in me see all your joys.

Your creation is my glory. I delight in when you make the most of the things I give to you, and the gifts and talent that I place within you. Through work, you show your love and gratitude to me. It is in your work that you show my glory, and I shine through you.

You think it is only when you are joyful or when you speak the ‘right’ things that my glory is seen. Yes, I do shine through you when you are laugh and when you talk, but talk is cheap. It can be meaningless if it doesn’t come from your heart, or if it is not a precursor to work or action. It is through work that you become fulfilled as a person, that you show yourself most like me and reflect my glory. It is only when you work that I can work through you. If you do not work, then I cannot work: I cannot accomplish my purpose in and through you.

Work is using your hands, your mind, your thoughts, your very being to accomplish and fulfill the desires and dreams that I place within you. Work will bless you and cause you to prosper – not money. Work is the assignment I have given to you – to work in my kingdom - to establish it that I might be glorified.
