When I Think of Mother

When I think of Mother, I think of caring
Of giving and helping, of so freely sharing.
I remember her hard work and determination
How she gave her all to us without reservation.

I think of her prayers, and faith-never shaken.
The Spirit that graced her could not be mistaken.
I recall the correction she was quick to administer
When I, in rebellion, did not listen to her.

Mother taught me so much by her very life-
A peacemaker, not one to gender discord or strife.
A teacher, a leader, a laborer in His Love
I know this one was led by God up above.

But Mother is gone, now, I have only memories.
She’s with the Lord enjoying all of Heaven’s glories.
Thank you, Lord, for the mother you gave me.
She nurtured me and told me how you could save me.

Rest on now, Mother, my guide, my friend
Your life on this earth has come to an end.
I thank God for you and for your final word
Filled with praises and telling me to keep trusting the Lord.
