I’ve been burdened down,
Shackled, and beat up
By the chains of poverty
Hardship and misery.
Issues known as stumbling blocks.
A red sea
trying to keep me from getting
To where you want me to be.
But I fell down
And wouldn’t get up.
Wouldn’t get up and continue my journey
To richer and happier lands
For fear of falling back down again.
Those stumbling blocks
Did exactly what they were supposed to do.
They caused me to stumble.
I fell so much that my eyes
Were blanketed with the dust of doubt
But my eyes are open now.
And I can clearly see
That these issues are overcomable.
The red sea in front of me can be parted.
But it is a task that is a "mission impossible"
without you and my undying faith in your Word.
How do I part a red sea?
Via faith and Your company.
And I have to have BOTH.
I reflect back to the days of Moses.
I see pharaoh on his trail,
As he comes to the abrupt
End of his trail.
He had been stopped by a red sea.
It was the only thing separating him
From his destiny.
I can imagine the look on Moses face,
When he came to that, oh so peculiar place.
He stopped.
Looked back.
Saw what was behind him…
A fire shooting down from the sky
Bright enough to blind him.
It was you,
Encircling his past with a ring of fire
So that he and his people
Could quench their desire
To be free
And no longer be trapped in misery.
As you fought off the enemy of the past,
He looked forward.
Paused.
He knew that you were with him.
You did your part.
He now had to do his.
He took the staff in his hand
And faithfully drove it into the ground.
Instantly the red sea parted
As they walked across into their future.
I realize that you’ve done the same thing for me
That you did for HE.
You’ve encircled my past
So that it can’t prevent me
From stepping into my future.
The ball is in my court now.
If I don’t have enough faith in your word
To put my staff down into the ground
And know that this red sea
Has no choice but to part,
And believe it in my heart,
I’ll be standing here forever
Trapped between past and destiny.
I’ve been equipped with a staff.
My staff is my pen, I write.
My staff is my voice, I sing.
My staff is my hands, I draw.
My staff is my mind, I teach.
My staff is the unique talent
That you have blessed me with.
It’s my tool to get from here to there.
And I have to use the staff that you’ve given me
Or my red sea will never part and allow me to walk into my destiny.
