THE FEATHER BED:
=======================
In my early morning prayer, God began to talk to me about trust. That is, my learning to totally trust Him no matter what was happening around me. You want to believe that you fully trust the Lord until He comes and reveals your need to stretch in this area. And so, in teaching me I was shown a picture. In the spirit, I saw a big feather bed. The feathers of this bed were silvery-white and so soft. Chicken feathers are soft but next to these I was seeing, chicken feathers would be hard. Cotton would be hard also.

In this vision I was standing at the head of the bed, slightly above it. You could liken this to standing on a diving board and looking down into a swimming pool of water. I stood there looking at this feather bed and thinking how luxuriously soft it looked when the Lord spoke and said, “Turn around and allow yourself to fall backward into the bed of feathers. When you do, know that you’ll be falling into My arms that will never let you fall.” The Bible speaks of “His everlasting arms.”

LETTING GO:

I turned around as the Lord had instructed with my back to the bed of feathers. That part was easy enough but I hesitated to allow myself to fall backward. And then I knew why. It was fear because I couldn’t see the bed now. And to just fall backward into it would be to have blind trust and faith that the bed would be there to catch me and not let me fall (Prov.3:3-5).

I understood what God was trying to teach me in this illustration. This was the essence of trust in Him. That is, not needing to see how God was going to take care of this problem or that situation in my life, but blindly trusting and having faith that He would. Trusting that He would take care of me and everything that pertains to my life. No matter what. He wanted me, and He wants all His children to learn how to let go of the things that we can’t take care and fix.

He wanted me to learn how to just fall back into His everlasting arms and rest---knowing that I can totally trust my Father to be there in my time of need. That I could rest in faith in Him and be at peace while He took care of those things that I couldn’t.

TAKE THE PLUNGE:
=========================
While I stood there hesitating about letting go to fall into the feather bed, the Holy Spirit brought to my mind the commercial that had been on TV a long time ago about “taking the Nest-Tea plunge.” The person with a glass of tea in hand would fall backward into a swimming pool, seeming to have not one care in the world as they let go. As the saying goes, ‘I got the picture loud and clear.’

I slapped fear out of my way (II Tim.1:7) and I took the plunge. By faith, I just let go and fell into the bed of feathers and it was there to catch me. What an experience of pure exhilaration and freedom it was to just absolutely let go without worry or concern. This is “Casting your care upon the Lord, for He cares for you”(1 Pet.5:7).

There came the point when I knew that I knew, when I fell backward I could trust Father-God to indeed catch me in His everlasting arms of love. What joy this was to be taught such a simple but a very profound lesson by My Father. I felt like a care-free kid, which is exactly how our heavenly Father wants us to be. CARE--FREE! This was the lesson my Father wanted me to learn and that is how to be care-free and by faith rest in Him.

In casting all our cares upon Him, we can be care-free and have peace and joy instead. Yes, we have responsibilities but in casting all worries, fears and anxieties (cares) upon Him for He cares for us, then we can be free to go about our responsibilities with the joy of the Lord as our strength. We won’t be burdened down with the ‘weight of the world’ so to speak on our shoulders for our “burden will be light and the yoke easy.”

Matt.11:28-30, “Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29-Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me: for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30-For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.”
