Desperate For Status In Life
Isaiah 32:15-17 until the spirit be poured upon us form on high and the wilderness be a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be counted for a forest. Then judgment shall dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness remain in the fruitful field. And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance forever.
When we get desperate for a particular status in life what do we do? What does it mean to be desperate? What is status? What is it in life that will take us far away from God? What is it that will make us do things in life that we normally would not do?
Just thinking about this the ninth month of marriage and living six of them separate and apart made me think about man’s status in life. I have realized that man seeks for a status in this world that may be very different from what God has ordained. God ordained marriage and it is an honorable estate. Many marry for reasons other than what God ordained. Many of the reasons for these marriages are selfish ones and not for love. My marriage God forbid was supposed to make me forget about the last painful one; it didn’t work. He married for status in life. Sure I helped him to reach the status he desired and when he did, he showed me the door. Very much like me in a way; he used me and I used him except my usury was to no avail because now not only am I in pain, but I am in pain and broke. What I would not give him he stole trying to keep up his VIP status he had acquired.
His selfish desperate acts revealed his true purpose, ugly motives, and disloyal intents and he wonders why I don’t want him to call me. How long do you be a fool? It’s one thing when you are a fool in love like I was with my last husband; I don’t even love this man. I don’t even like him. The problem is I loved deeply and waited twenty months for this previous husband that never showed back up. He had Legal Aid call me one day to say he wanted a divorce. I tried to hold on to someone that didn’t want me I guess because I loved him. I still love him and probably always will. I have always been married and I like being married; it feels so right. I want to please God. I wanted to be married seventy five years to the same man as my grandmother was to my grandfather. I never liked being alone. My husband that died, I loved him so much and I was not there for him when he called. I never wanted to not be there for my husband again so I allowed myself to be used. I am not looking for status in life, I am looking for love. Is that too much to ask for? I am not desperate for it though that I would lose my mind over it though.
Desperation causes us to be in despair, penniless, poor and lacking. We find ourselves being used up. We find ourselves in positions of devastation, unbalanced, fussy, and difficult. We are in a state of delusion because we have been misled and deceived. Thank God for Jesus and a mind to serve Him more than man. Hopelessness grips us but can’t hold us because we have hope given us by Jesus Christ. We feel forsaken but God is there all the time. The Holy Ghost is there to minister to our needs. In the state of desertion we have inhabited there lies a dreary state of depression, discouragement, gloom, and desperation that brings forth disdain, scorn, condemnation and hatred but thank God for Jesus. He will keep your mind if it is stayed on Him. He reminds us that we do have a future, our destiny is not doomed. In spite of everything going on Satan has no power to demolish our faith. We must detach or disconnect ourselves from the stronghold he tries to put us in. This is not the status God wants for man.
The things man attaches themselves to soon brings about a disinterest, indifference, and uninvolved attitude that cause them to realize that what was good for them is gone. Now they seek to regain that place and discover that I have really messed up. The status I sought after wasn’t all it claimed to be. This status took me too far for too long and it was not worth it. Now my life is deteriorated to the point of depreciation and is lessened in value. Why is suicide not an option? What will prevent it from happening? A VIP; I have become a very important person among the Elite of Elites of the world. The status one reaches in the world can separate them from God and land them a place in hell for eternity.
Desperation means there is loss of hope and surrender to despair; a state of hopelessness leading to rashness. It means we will do anything to get to that place we want to attain a spot in. We employ or involve extreme measures in an attempt to escape defeat or frustration, involving extreme danger or possible disaster if necessary. The results sometime are shocking and outrageous. We gamble and take chances we normally would not have taken if our motive and intents were not misplaced. This same place in life causes Christians to act out of order, out of character, and outside the will of God. We suffer extreme need or anxiety trying to keep up with the status quo of the Church. The Church forgets what they have been called for trying to keep up the status they have reached. They reach back to their own mindset to find resolution to spiritual answers. On the way back up they don’t care how they get there, just get there. They don’t care who gets hurt or which of Satan’s spirits they acquire as long as they get to where they want to be.
Be it natural or spiritual it has its consequences. We have to keep our mind. We have to make sure we don’t cause contempt, provoke one to anger, or devalue someone else life through maliciousness, envy, or jealousy to get to that place of position or status. Jesus never attained status in the Church of the World but He did set up the Church of God in Christ. He had a low key and God blessed Christ and the kingdom of God He set up in the earth with the promise of life forever to all that believed and trusted in Him. We are to search for a status in Christ, find it and stay there no matter what comes or goes.
Jesus reigned in righteousness and rules in judgment. He is that hiding place from the wind, a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in dry places, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land. He is our eyes that see and our ears that hearken when they hear. He causes our heart to understand knowledge in our rashness to act. He causes us to speak plainly when our tongues are tied. He liberates us from the vile man that speaks villainy and whose heart works iniquity. He keeps us from them that practice hypocrisy and utter error against the Lord. He keeps us from those that make our souls empty when we are hungry for His Word. He keeps us from those that be thirsty for the things of this world’s good; from those that will rob the poor of spiritual knowledge to continue their status of being false prophets. They are wicked and continuously evil and rest in our midst daily speaking lies to men as if they speak truth. They that are liberal in Christ, has been set free and will remain standing forever and eternally.
God however promised restoration to man. He promised that He would pour out His Spirit upon all men. He promised us fruitfulness, not of the things of the world but of the Spirit. Why does He have to promise us what He has already made for us? He set the trees in the midst of the earth to make food, paper, homes, and fire to keep us warm. He provided food, clothing and shelter; we have that blessing so why do we have to waste time believing for something that is already given. We need to seek for the status in the Holy Ghost that man lost for us in the Garden amidst all the provision made for them. Man already had a job when God made him; he was to keep the earth, his abode. The Spirit of God was to keep him alive forever.
Desperate for status in life? Allow God to show up, He will give you status and we will dwell in a peaceable habitation and sure dwellings and in quiet resting places. We will be as eagles that soar through the fire. We will depend on the leading and guiding of the Holy Ghost. We won’t maneuver depending on natural things for guidance. We will however continue to prove God in the dressing room here that we obtain status in heaven. The Holy Ghost, the continuator of the work of Christ will continue to direct our eyes, ears, and hearts. So many lose their direction because the status they have acquired causes them to not see right. The blinders must come off. The fire of the Holy Ghost kills the flesh dependency. The Holy Ghost must be preached with the indwelling and fire. Jesus come from heaven depended on and respected the leading of the Holy Ghost. He was led by the fire of the Holy Ghost and we too can go through following Him.
When we take our eyes off the Lord, we lose our way. Hope thou in God, Christ gives us that hope. We are to live in that hope. If it is in you it ought to show some sign. Walk in the anointing. Trust God and His anointing. Come higher in God. The status of sin must take a flight and fly away. We miss God, take wrong turns and miss the mark, but when we do don’t stay there. Rise up with Christ and live!
