Devotionals
Are you in need of an answer today? Do you want to pray but aren’t sure what to say to the Lord? Luke 11:5 tells us that if you go to a friend at midnight and knock on his door, he will finally answer because of your boldness to not give up. Jesus says in verse nine ask and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you. Jesus is your friend and you can knock on His door even at midnight and He will answer. You may be wondering how you go about knocking on the King of Kings door.
Scripture tells us in Hebrews 4:16 to come boldly to the throne of grace, that you may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in your time of need. When you knock on someone’s door late at night you need to pound on it, right? Are you knocking hard enough for God to hear you? Even though prayer isn’t about how loud you are, it’s the bold that are desperate enough to be heard. Are you desperate enough to sincerely petition the Lord on behalf of your problem? Or are you testing the Lord’s love for you by expecting Him to come to your aid even when you don’t call. He’s already done that by dying for you.
God teaches us how to pray in Matthew 6:9, give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our sins. Do you remember the rest? For we also forgive everyone who sins against us. Matthew 6:15 says if you don’t forgive another’s sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. This goes hand in hand with what Jesus said in Mark 12:30. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. The second is to love your neighbor as yourself. There is no greater commandment than these. So decide today to pray the way God says you may to have a wonderful day.
