Thank God For Open Doors!

Revelation 3:8
See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it...(NKJV)

As we embark on a thirty day journey to study the word of God, to know His will for our lives, let's begin by thanking God.

Scripture tells us quite plainly, in Revelation 3:8 that He, the God of this Universe, has set before you (as one who is following after Christ) an open door. Even better, He has declared that no one can shut it.

It is not a mistake that you are reading this and trying to discern God's will for your life. The Holy Spirit within you is calling you to know and to do the will of God. Why? Ultimately, so that His name will be glorified and people will be drawn to Him. He has a specific job for you to do and He has drawn up a plan for your life.

So let's begin today by thanking God that He does have a will for our lives. Do you believe it? Psalm 139:16 tells us, "Even before I was born, you had written in your book everything I would do." (CEV)

Our lives are not left to chance. God has already created a plan and a purpose for your life. Jeremiah 29:11 says, "'For I know the plans I have for you,' says the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.'" (NIV)

God has a plan for your life and before you is an open door. Are you ready to walk through this open door? It will take an effort on your part. An open door is no good unless you are ready to walk through it.

So today, instead of begging God to reveal His will to you, begin by thanking Him and praising Him, because He already has set that open door before you. God loves a heart full of thanksgiving.

I have two children and I get so much joy when they come to me expecting and excited. One day, when we picked my eldest daughter up from school, she came bouncing out because she was expecting to go to the pet store. She was so excited. How could we have done anything other than bring her to the pet store? It would have broken her heart. We had not promised that we would bring her, we had merely mentioned it at the breakfast table. But she had clung onto our words and held them as true.

How much more does it please the Father when we cling onto His promises that He has declared over our lives. Let's get excited, like little children, and be expectant. He has said that He has promised a good plan for your life and has set an open door before you.

Prayer:
Thank you, Lord, for that open door that you have set before me and that you have promised a good plan for my life. Today, I want to praise you for your goodness and your faithfulness. You will walk through that open door with me and go each step with me. I acknowledge that my hope is in you and your plans for my life. Amen
