Matthew 7:7
KJV - Ask, and it shall be given you; seek and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you;
NIV - Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.
October 17 is always a special day to me. Twenty years ago, I met my wife, Dawn. I prayed for her and God heard my prayers. God's Word tells us to proclaim the great things He has done in our lives and next to our eternal salvation through Jesus Christ, there is no greater blessing than an earthly soul mate.
I met her at the end of a high school football game. Ding! Ding! Ding! She was gorgeous! I knew ten minutes into our first date that she was the girl I had been praying for. Four children and 20 years later, I love her more each passing day. She is more Ding! Ding! Ding! gorgeous than ever.
God wants to give us good things. He does expect us to ask, seek, and knock, and He will always reward our efforts, either here or in our eternal life through Christ. That is what grace is all about.
I have stumbled and bungled through life and constantly demonstrate an uncanny ability to be clueless about many things. I do know how to ask God for the things that really matter and He has blessed my petitions beyond anything I could have imagined.
