Making Christ Lord of all is not an emotion. It is so easy to get emotional with a charismatic speaker and worship music. Sometimes this occurs without much challenge to take charge of one's life. Faith is not based upon feeling. Making Christ Lord of all is based upon fact--the fact of who Christ is; the fact of what He has done for you, and the the fact of His ability and power to help you overcome any problem, habit, or addiction.

Making Christ Lord means getting rid of addictions, bad habits, wrong attitudes, and any kind of life style or practice that does not honor God. It may mean changing the kind of books you read, the music you listen to, the magazines you look at, the movies and TV programs you watch, the computer games you play, the way you use your time, the people with whom you associate, and yes, even the church you attend.

Lordship equals change. Emotional feeling without obedience and assuming personal responsibility for one's life is nothing more than emotional feeling. That needs to be coupled with sound theological teaching that focuses on how a person needs to change, so that change can bring about a greater degree of conformity out of obedience and love for God. It saddens me that there is a lot of emotion void of biblical teaching in our theological culture today.

Lordship is doing whatever is necessary to please the one to whom you are devoted with a proper heart attitude. If you attend a service or conference and get an "emotional high", but then leave with no commitment to change something in your life that needs attention, Christ is not Lord of you life. The Bible says to "work out your salvation." We do not do anything to earn salvation, but rather do whatever is necessary to make our lives consistent with our salvation.
