I am now fifty four years young and was lucky to be born in 1950 the turning point of the 20th Century. Those of us born around that time have seen huge changes in our lifetime for the good and equally for the bad, but we still live with optimism of the human spirit. The good inside all. I trained as a Teacher in London and have spent a lifes work with children and adults of all ages exploring the wonder of creative thought. Watching people grow in faith and esteem. Watching them achieve what they thought they never could.

Thoughout this time one thread has kept me alive and jumping with joy, MUSIC! Living through the second half of the 20th Century has meant watching the development of some of the most wonderful music and lyrics and the freeing of the spirit to make that music available to a wider audience.

I grew up with great heroes of music, the classics, the blues, rock & roll, country, folk, modern, jazz. I grew up watching the names, Howling Wolf, Muddy Waters, Josh White, Eric, John, Paul, Ringo, George, Elton, Simon & Garfunkel and the men of words Woody Guthrie and the one and only Bob Dylan. My influences built the style and feel of my work and gave me the freedom to write what I felt.

In this article I include three songs, however, my technological knowledge isn't up to much so therefore I'm afraid you will have to paint the music in your head. If you would like to hear the real thing then you will have to get in touch and a CD could be winging it's way to your doorstep in the very near future.

This song was written as part of a Musical entitled "Second Coming" first performed in a London primary school in the mid 1980's.

I HOPE IT'S NOT TOO LATE!


I've been singing my songs for a long, long time
Trying to say something different with each single line
Preaching against war

A song written in the early 1970's as I was playing the North London scene and busking in Piccadilly Circus and Oxford Circus Underground, to earn enough for the next meal.

The final song is all about saying those momentous words 'Lord Jesus take me as I am'.

Sometimes we write songs because it is easier to tell others with music, your not alone, there is always other sound to give you confidence. I hope you can hear the music through the rhythm of the words.
