When my heart starts to break
Over the sins in my life,
Tears welling my eyes
As I taste the world’s strife,
Pain thrust into my heart
As a well-honed knife,
Bowing down with grief and care
-That’s prayer.

When I reach out to touch
One hungry and cold,
Or hold out my hand
To the infirm and the old,
Not knowing the outcome
Letting faith make me bold,
Offering what I have to share
-That’s prayer.

He has opened my eyes
To see others in need,
Grasping less for myself
Knowing more is called greed,
Our God will provide
When we trust and believe,
His grace has made me aware
-That’s prayer.

Now waiting still upon Him
His way and will to know,
Trusting He will lead me
Down paths I need to go,
Joyful for the promise
Of a home where waters flow,
Soon He comes to take us there
-That’s prayer.

When we come before Him
Seeking His unfailing grace,
Waiting on His answer
To the trials we all must face,
Desiring to follow Him
In any time or place,
Grateful for a cross to bear
-That’s prayer.
