Here are six arguments for being against abortion.

1. Medical facts reveal that at the time abortions are done the fetus has a beating heart. A beating heart is a sign of life.

2. Emotional issues must be taken into account. Post Abortion Syndrome (PASS)can occur. This condition can include guilt, regret, remorse, shame, lowered self-esteem, and nightmares.

3. Studies have shown that there is an increased risk of breast cancer. (The first 3 points are supported by information taken from HUMAN LIFE ALLIANCE.)

4. There is the taking away of the potential of what that life could have become. How many future scientists and doctors who may have discovered a cure for cancer or diabetes, have been aborted? How many future world leaders who may have changed the course of human history, have been aborted? We will never know. Maybe the world would be a better place right now if an abortion had not happened.


5. Now let me expound on the spiritual element. There is an argument that the Bible has nothing to say about abortion. Well, there is nothing that comes right out and says that it is wrong, but get your Bibles (if you can find them), and read Psalm 139:13-16. In summary, it says that we are created by God, and He sees our unformed substance. Then it ends by saying that God has "ordained our days." Excuse me, but who are we to cut short what God has ordained?

6. Abortion clinics like Planned Parenthood may only tell patients what they want them to know. See my article, PRO CHOICE IS NOT PRO CHOICE, posted on 2/2/13.

If conservative Christians and pro-lifers would base their position on all of these 6 elements instead of only the spiritual one, as important as that is, maybe there would be more support for being against abortion. And even if the spiritual convictions were left completely out, the other five remaining points would still present a good case. Think about it.
