Encouragement
Went to the doctor today. Sitting there with my nausea, my hair not even combed, looking pitiful, with my Mom, I noticed an older lady come in with her daughter. They sat close to us and I smiled. We sat there for a really long time, because the office was very busy. I noticed her turn to her daughter after a while and say that she didn't think that she could sit there much longer. The daughter told her it was there or the ER, just to sit tight.
I could see the pain in her face. Mom and I were thinking the same thing and we had already started praying for her in our hearts. She turned again a little later to her daughter, to tell her she just didn't know how long she could stand it. I could see her twisting back and forth in her chair trying to find a comfortable position.
At that moment I felt the spirit nudging me to pray with her. That is so not me, I'm kind of shy, although there are many who would debate that. I was thinking, she is going to think I'm crazy sitting here like death warmed over. Then in my mind, I thought if you don't do this Kim, you are going to feel bad. So I immediately leaned over and said softly, "I see you are in pain, may I pray with you?"
A look of surprise mixed with kindness came across her face, and she said, yes. I grabbed Mom's hand and we prayed. A tear trickled down my face, not hers. Sheepishly looking away, so I wouldn't embarrass her, even though I just prayed in front of the whole doctor's office, she caught my eye with a tender smile and mouthed, "Thank you so much." Then my name was called.
I don't tell this to brag on me, but to brag on God. See, it is not in me to ask a stranger if I can pray with them. It was God in me, that was able to do it. It seem to sincerely touch her. I was touched more. I have been asking God to give me more boldness with others in talking about Him. Opening doors for me to share His love and He did. I consider it a great honor when someone allows me to pray with them or for them.
Today, God not only used me in my sickness, but used a fragile little lady to bless me more than I could have ever dreamed. God can always turn something bad, like sickness, into something good. Praise God!
