“The awesomeness of God”

You know, God saw fit to give his son Jesus Christ to us as our Lord and savior. God gave us his son to redeem us because we were lost in our sins. Mankind would have been lost forever if it had not been for Jesus. There is a gospel song that goes “If it had not been for Jesus where would I be”. The bible says how can we escape if we neglect so great salvation. Salvation is protection from the destruction of the world, forgiveness of sins etc. Jesus is our hero. When we were in the world, we dogged God. As Christians, we still dog God. Yet God is so in love with us that he is willing to forget all about our sins against him.

So I want to talk about the awesomeness of God, his power and greatness. Genesis 1:15 mentions, “God created the heaven and earth. The earth was without form and void. Darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light day and the darkness he called night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. I will stop right there.

It is not hard to see that God is the light of the world and in him there is no darkness at all. Everything begins and ends with God. He is the Alpha and Omega, which is and which was and which is to come, the Almighty (Rev 1:8). God can hear a billion saints praying to him at the same time and distinguish each one clearly. He is everywhere at the same time and all knowing. The wisdom of God reduces the wisdom of the world to foolishness. His weakness is greater than the strength of all men.

The Bible says with God all things are possible (St. Mark 10:27). He is our maker, deliverer, provider, healer and redeemer. The Lord thy God is the Creator of all spirit and flesh. He brings the proud to nothing and exalts the humble to greatness. Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). Everything living and moving revolves around God and is able to do so because of his eternal power. The angels bow down before him. The devil with his demons, fear the name of Jesus and bow before him also.

Our God is an awesome God. He gave sight to the blind. He raised Lazarus from the dead. He fed five thousand with two pieces of fish. He cleaned up Saul and called him Paul. He gave the Holy Ghost on the day of Pentecost. He made the dumb and deaf speak. Then after all that healing, preaching and doing miracles, he went to the cross and died providing a way for us to get back to the father.

In conclusion, I just want to say that there is no God like our God. He is the only grand Potentate. The heaven is full of his glory. The world is full of his praise. We must continue to thank and praise him for what he has done for us. No matter what we like or do not like about our lives, God is good and he is awesome. Amen.
