“The love of God”

In the world, love is expressed from one person to another person. The difference is they already know each other. If a stranger walks by them and say God bless you, I love you, they would say themselves he or she is crazy and have a funny look on their face. There are many forms of worldly love. One type is financial love. This happens when a couple is married for years and gets a divorce over a small thing such as finances that could have been discussed and dealt with. Abusive love is when a husband beats his wife and then tells her “I love you that is why I hit you”. That is not love. It is abuse. Sadly, many women, especially Christians, go through this type of relationship. The whole problem is that these examples of love are flesh and are not genuine. Genuine love means cherishing, caring and sharing. It also means wanting to see your loved ones and others get saved.

The love that is heavenly undefiled and eternal is the love of God. This is because God is love (1 john 4:8). God `s love is unconditional love that extends towards everyone no matter what race. Loving God is loving people. According to 1 John 4:21, the passage states: “and this commandment have we from him, that he who loveth God love his brother also”. Yes, I am talking about loving Christians. Sadly, there are brothers and sisters who hate each other. Hating people, especially Christians, is the devil `s job. The bible says in 1 john 4:20 “If a man say, I love God and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother, whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

We must walk upright with our brethren because they are our family. Many people leave the church in search of a new one but do not succeed because there is no such thing as a perfect church. Then backbiting takes place. There are brothers and sisters in the church who have spiritual gifts but do not have any love. Apostle Paul says gifts without charity is nothing (1 Corinthians 13:22).

As Christians, one of the first things we must do is develop our love for each other. Love is the icing on the cake of our faith. Love is a character of God. It grieves me to hear of people who are atheists. The reason why they are alive is because God wakes them up in the morning. There is too much goodness and love in God not to love him. God `s love consist of mercy, grace, forgiveness, longsuffering, patience and more. No sinner will ever know what true love is until they know the love of God. Amen.
