“Who is your source?”

In life, we think about all the things we have and the things that we want. Things like clothing, money, a woman or a man etc. We never really think about the reason for why we have them and their purpose in our lives. I am not just talking about back when we were living in the world. I am talking about now as Christians. See, we say to ourselves how come I do not have this, or how come I do not have that! We need to be patient and be glad of what we do have. And that is Jesus. We feel that if we had more money, if I had a woman, or a man, if we had more things, everything would be okay. It seems like we find our comfort in things and people instead of the one and only true source of all things. So I write to ask you, who is your source? Who is your source?

The Bible says in St. John 1:1-3, “In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him: and without him was not anything made that was made.” We must trust or learn to trust in god with everything we have because it all belongs to him. The book of Revelations Jesus says: “Heaven and earth will pass away but my words will never pass away.” The heavens and the earth belong to the Lord and the fullness thereof.

The entire world and galaxy/solar system is operating under the power of God. We get up in the morning by his power. Everything depends on God`s power. Thomas Edison did not discover electricity, God did BEFORE he said: “let there be light.” Jesus said in John 15:5, “ I am the vine and ye are the branches. He that abideth in me the same bringeth forth much fruit; for without me ye can do nothing.” So who do we think we are? We walk away from God because things do not go the way we want them to, thinking we can fix our own problems. The Bible is our instruction manual for life. It is not just a book of faith and beginnings and endings. No matter what the issues may be, whether spiritual or natural, the word is the final authority, our source.

Did you ever hear of children who possess a 300 I.Q.? You know, smart kids. As brilliant as they are, their source of intelligence still depends on God, and is far inferior to God.

God is everything. We need him to be who we are, he does not need us to be who he is, because he is and was before the earth was and will continue to be. We were created for his glory. God is everything he needs to be when he wants to be. He is the first and the last Adam, the beginning and the end. He is the source of our life because he is life. Lord God, let us continue to acknowledge that it is all about you, not us. Amen.
