I have been asked to weigh in on the issue of gays in the ministry. My answer is short, sweet. Homosexuals, those in adulterous relationships, heterosexual couples engaging in fornication, liars, cheats, hypocrites-all are welcome at the Cross and God can and will forgive them. Therefore, they are welcome in to the church, but not in places of authority until their lives change and they spend a season of time under the teaching and leadership of those that understand the principles of self-discipline and a lifestyle designed to please the Father.
To those in the churches that allowing these types of things to go on in leadership, I promise you that I and many others are praying for your strength and the guidance of God’s Spirit to assist you in making the right decisions. We are also praying for the healing of the body of Christ, and you in particular. Prayerfully consider all of your decisions probably now more so than ever before. Remember this, when prayer does not seem enough, be quiet and listen for that still small voice, for He may be trying to get through to you.
For those that persist in believing and following this trend, allow me to share a little insight and teach a little bit of something called The Truth in God’s Word.
In Mark 13, we see Jesus teaching and warning about the end of time. He states that when we see the abomination of desolation in the temple, as Daniel predicted, we should know that God is about to bring judgment. Now I do understand that this passage is in reference to an idol of the anti-Christ being placed in the temple to be built in Jerusalen and a command going out to worship that image. However, I see dark forces and foreboding evil veiled in this occurrence that we have now witnessed. Looking at the church now allowing homosexuals and others to be ordained and stand behind the sacred desk to present the gospel message, it would seem that we have already begun this process. We have allowed the desecration of our places of worship and thus corrupted the belief and teachings of our Father and Son. We are grieving the Spirit of the Living God, and it will not go unpunished. There will be judgment brought on to the body of Christ for allowing these things, for sin must be purged from our lives that we may be presented a holy and righteous bride.
Notice that I said the sin must be purged, not the sinner. They must be loved and led to the love of our Savior, Jesus Christ. A daunting task indeed, but one that can be handled with the love of the Father in our hearts. I am definitely not against you as an individual. My own sins were just as dark and wicked as we seem to perceive that these sins are. The Bible plainly teaches us that sin is sin, no degree worse than the other, and all are punishable by God were it not for the salvation of Jesus and His death, burial, and resurrection. I need Christ, you need Christ. Period.
Dear Christian, while making your stand, do not allow this to turn into a realm of prejudice. People need the Lord and we must not alienate them from the love of Christ, or we will face judgment also. Be firm, stand strong for what you believe, but be willing to allow love to show, not hatred. You are making a stand for Christ and if done correctly you will make an impression on this world in a positive manner. Take a stand and see what God has in store for his people. Pastor Richard D.
