Grief
I weep for the might have beens,
For the still could be’s
And for the never-gonna-happens…
I weep that I took life for granted
And assumed that you would always be there.
Someday I would find the time for you.
But the clock has wound down and time is gone
Death is near
And soon I shall be no more
I assumed that you would let me in
Even though I shut you out.
I took your words lightly
And did not count the cost
I weep.
