It’s not about my being right,
But about His righteousness..
For redemption flows not from my will,
But through His death I’m blessed.

It’s not about me being great,
But, filled with gratitude,
I hold ambition’s lure in check
That His love might be pursued.

It’s not about how strong I am;
I bare but arms of dust.
Still strength in weakness does subsist
As I learn to lean and trust.

It’s not about my hunger,
But craving His humility;
Turning open hands toward heaven,
Possessing naught, yet being free.

It’s not about my feelings,
But the faith I place in Him
Who set aside glory, power, life,
To redeem me from my sin.

It’s not about my works,
Or how much I have given…
No comparison dare usurp
The blood-stained Lamb of heaven.

It’s not about the life I’ve chosen,
But what He wants for me;
Yielding uncertain future
To the King of eternity.
