Children

Nine feet tall the giant stood,
Goliath was his name,
The champion of Philistines,
Word spread of his great fame.

Imagine it, a man so tall,
Much taller than your ceiling,
If you ran into such a man
You'd feel like you were kneeling!

But on this day the armies met,
Philistines and the Jews,
Goliath bullied, bluffed, and bragged
That he would win not lose.

So confident, so cocky,
Goliath "blew a fuse"
When all but one small shepherd boy
His challenge did refuse.

But David knew Almighty God,
On Him he would rely,
For there's no power on this earth
That God cannot supply.

Though dressed in armor head to toe
Goliath did not know,
That David with a stone and sling
God's victory would show.

For David was assured of this,
And this one thing he knew,
Whatever task God asked of him
The Lord his God would do.

And so with confidence he stood
One stone he then let fly,
Goliath toppled to the ground
And bid his life good-bye.

It sometimes seems that evil reigns
But don't you dare believe it,
The victory our God will win
Though we cannot conceive it.
