For years I was deceived into thinking that I was better than others. I can still remember when I would compare myself with individuals (prideful). For instance: I would say to myself “I wouldn’t murder anyone”, “I wouldn’t curse at my moms”, “I wouldn’t cheat on my exams”, I, I, I. Boy, was I fooled! Recently, GOD SHOWN me that my actions would have been just as evil as the following above, if it wasn’t for The POWER of HIS WORD.
See when I was coming up, my parents; grand-parents; neighbors and even some strangers always taught or suggested that I keep certain principles. Little did I know at the time (perhaps you’re in the same position) that these principles were from The WORD of GOD (The Bible). Things such as: “ Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” Matthew 7:12; “Don’t hate your brother (siblings)”, Leviticus 19:17; “To be respectful to our (your) elders” Leviticus 19:32, and so fourth. I was instructed to apply these principles to every situation I encountered before I responded (this concept helped me to developed The FEAR of The LORD). For example: If an adult cursed at me, I still treated with that person with the upmost respect, even though they were wrong & my feelings got hurt (because I feared GOD); I loved others as I loved myself (even when they didn’t deserve it & I didn’t receive love in return); at the time, I feared The LORD so greatly that it was nothing I wouldn’t do to please HIM (needless to say, I began leaning into my own understanding and this is where all of my problems began, for I had forgotten WHO HE WAS (still IS) and what HE was capable of doing).
What I had discovered was that whenever I did as I was told (according to HIS WORD) I would reap such great benefits that it was always worth doing what was right (blessings from GOD through answered prayers and also HIS favor in things that HE done for me just because HE wanted me to have it and in those times I didn’t even have to ask). However, when I didn’t obey HIM (HIS WORD) I would reap the consequences of the sins committed. So in plain English, if you receive The WORD of GOD as TRUTH (believe, which is faith) then apply IT to your life, according to what IT says (for you to train your mind by The WORD & heed IT’S instructions, which are deeds), The TRUTH then gives LIFE (sets you free, instead in bondage & producing death) to you within the area of which IT was applied (Isaiah 55:11).
Our part in salvation is exercising our faith (trusting GOD) what The WORD of GOD says; then accepting IT as TRUTH & administering (practice using) The WORD as our guide (renewing of our minds) before making any verdicts (decision). The Bible is our blueprint, to such as: before jumping to conclusions, before disciplining our children, before getting a divorce, before, before, before. This IS The WILL of GOD (we’re in agreement with HIM and develop a intimate relationship with HIM, WHO IS our CREATOR).
When we do things according to The WORD, this is what pleases GOD; it’s what blesses us; and it’s what gives us the privilege to partaking of HIS HOLY SPIRIT (of what establishes us as being the acceptable sacrifice in order to live in Heaven for all eternity). When we do what is right, GOD will “ credited it as Righteousness” (on our behalf), Genesis 15:6; Romans 4:5; Galatians 3:6 & James 2:23.
Since, GOD IS ALL-KNOWING, HE ALREADY KNEW when we would make mistakes, fall short, (call it what you want, it’ll still be) sin. That’s why HE became flesh (in a form of a man, yet fully GOD in POWER) to make known to us , our ignorance of HIM. GOD understood that our “flesh is weak”, Matthew 26-26:41. In fact, even before creation itself, HE SAW into the future of how we would need HIM in such a way, that HE put on hold: the beauties of Heaven, HIM being waiting on hand & foot by Heavenly Host, and so forth to pay the full price for the punishment of our sins because HE LOVES US (Ephesians 2:4). The Bible IS HIS OWN WORD(S) guaranteeing everything HE DID, DONE, and what HE WILL DO for those who believe in HIM (trust HIM).
Errors only comes into manifestation when we don’t know enough of The WORD to continue to grow-up in The WORD (CHRIST) or we fall into the trap of forgetting that The LORD DOES ALL (Deuteronomy 6:12 ). Both are forms of deception, so don’t blame the devil (for not even he can do anything to us without the permission of GOD, GOD allows these things to happen for us to be lead back to HIM, so it is with the law, and everything else that seems unjustly). When we start taking GOD’S CREDIT for ourselves (pride), this is a great error of deception, which leads us into us into bondage (Proverbs 14:12). HELLO: “no flesh shall glory before The LORD”, 1 Corinthians 1:29 & verse 31.
Without further confusion, let’s come into agreement that, “ The LORD made the earth and everything in it” 1 Corinthians 10:26 & Psalm 24:1.
The WORD of GOD has to take root (be received) in our lives (our hearts) and it takes practice to get good at it (this is the work of your salvation). Without being rooted in The WORD we become frustrated; begin to go back into old practices (bondage); and become alienated from GOD (separated because of sin) which is the very thing that only lead us back to HIM.
The WORD of GOD is not going to make a difference in your life or in the life of another without THE WORD taking root (being rooted is when THE WORD permanently in your heart, to the point of you’re not practicing any longer, for it automatically happens as part of your nature).
Be not deceived if : you just read The Bible; just go to church; just go to bible study; just pay tithes, just sing in the choir, just, just, just … and still haven’t changed, obviously, you’re not agreeing (sowing) with what The WORD of GOD to your life. For “GOD cannot be mocked, a man (you) reaps what he (you) sows”, Galatians 6:7. So, “if you sow (agreeing) to The SPIRIT (GOD), you shall reap (results) from The SPIRIT (GOD)”, John 3:6. Remember, “ALL SCRIPTURE IS GOD-BREATHED AND IS USEFUL FOR TEACHING, REBUKING, CORRECTING AND TRAINING IN RIGHTEOUSNESS”, 2 Timothy 3:16-17.
The consequences of rejecting LIFE is always death (Proverbs 8:36, 14:12 & Romans 6:23). Take a moment and look at your life and ask yourself is your verdict (decision) LIFE or death?
Prayer:
JEHOVAH GOD, GOD of ALL TRUTH, I come to YOU in The NAME of JESUS CHRIST, to confess my sins (admit aloud) and ask for YOUR FORGIVENESS. Teach me YOUR WAYS, so I may be pleasing in YOUR SIGHT. Shower me with YOUR MERCY and GRACE, so I may be able to do as YOU ASK of me. Thank YOU. Amen.
