Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to sin! Such things must come, but woe to the man through whom they come! Matthew 18:7
Most of us understand what it means to stumble and fall. No man or woman alive is without sin. And if we claim to be without it, we fool ourselves.
But who is the greater sinner, the one who sins or the one who causes another to sin? While God hates sin, I believer He holds in high contempt, those who lead His believers into sin or causes them to stumble and fall.
Jesus said “Woe!” “Woe to the man through whom they come?” Woe to the man who causes another to sin.
The Word of God is serious about how we relate to one another. Those who take advantage of others and hurt a person’s relationship with the Lord, by causing someone to sin, God hold accountable.
This goes for drug dealers, pedophiles, false teachers, young men who take advantage of their girlfriends, leaders who cause people to sin or stumble, through laws that are against God. And we haven’t touched the surface yet.
You see, Jesus tells us there is temptation in this world. And we will fall. But those who do the tempting and those who cause a believer to fall will be held accountable.
Jesus said it would better for them to have millstone hung around their neck and dropped into the deepest deep of the see. It would better for them to cut their eye out, their hand off or some other body part that might use to participate in their sins and lead others to do the same. .
I think about those Supreme Court judges that ruled that abortion is legal. Those men caused an entire nation to sin. They made it legal to put to death over fifty million babies in this nation. What will they have to say when they stand before a Holy God and try to explain why they ruled the way they did.
Then there are those who want to legalize gay marriage. And others, who go into our schools and teach our children being gay is no different than being heterosexual. These lead the Lord’s children astray. What will their punishment be for the lies they’ve told God’s little ones.
By now, I think you see my point, there are many forces in this world that try to seduce us to sin. The seducers, those who convince others to leave their faith or put aside their morality to participate in sin’s pleasure will be held accountable. They will not escape this world unscathed. For God will avenge His people.
God Bless,
Lynn E. Sheldon
