…and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me. Psalm 50:15
Trouble seems to be all around us. Sometimes I find myself asking God where he is in the midst of all this. It would be easy to let our hearts become anxious and in despair over what we see happening to our nation.
However, there seems to be an undertone springing forth. Common sense appears to be gaining a foothold. Will it last or is it a brief gasp, before the total collapse of this country?
I pray this movement we see happening in the US has a spiritual base to it. I pray that it’s not about protesting for protesting sake, but about God, raising up people to call on His name and cry out to Him.
God’s Word assures us, we’re not alone in this battle. He said, “Call on me in the day of trouble: I will deliver you and you will honor me.” Call on Me says the Lord and I will free you from bondage and you will know I the Lord did this, and you will glorify Me.
You see, it’s not about the political process or who leads us. It’s about God’s glory. If God’s glory is not part of what we do, then what we do will be in vain. However, if God’s glory is what we strive for, then we will see God’s people rise up and we will see virtue and righteousness sweep across this land. And we will see people weeping for their sins and crying out to the Lord. And we will see the other side’s arguments fall to the wayside, sounding hollow and empty in their efforts to promote death and destruction to God’s people. In their efforts to silence the lambs, they will fall to their own devices.
The Psalmist writes in Psalm 50:19, “You give your mouth to evil, and your tongue frames deceit.” Those, who hate the Lord, promote evil. They deceive others and according to the Word, speak about God’s ways, but only for their own purpose to further deceive people.
However, God also promises those who turn from their evil ways and repents, God will show mercy and deliver them too.
Yes, as a people, we live in precarious times. But the solution is not political, but spiritual. The battle is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities of darkness. Therefore, any real movement, without the Spirit, will not last. And if God is for us, who can be against us, therefore, cry out to the Lord. Pray for revival. Seek His face and seek His forgiveness. We cannot be about sin, for we will appear as hypocrites before the world. Instead, let us pray to God and seek His face and allow Him to continue to raise faithful men and women who want to bring about change. Not the kind of change the world offers, but the kind our Lord offers. His change is a heart change. His change turns people from their evil ways and brings them back to the Lord, where they honor God and lift up the Lord Jesus.
This is not the first generation in the history of this world to reject God and lift up man. And if the Lord should tarry, it will not be the last generation to do such. But in the course of history, God raises up a people crying out for freedom and liberty. He raises people who have become sick of their nation’s sins and seek His righteousness. My generation is the generation to usher in free love, which is not free, and other perversions that now infect our entire society. Let my generation get it right this time. Let us repent and turn back to the Lord. Let us lift Him up and call on His name. Let us humble ourselves before Him. If we do cry out with a repentant heart, God will hear us and heal the land.
God Bless
