Forgiveness is a flower;
Fragrant offering to our Lord.
When we turn aside our anger,
Which we were once wont to hoard.

As we open up our hands
Casting bitterness aside,
Forsaking our claim to vengeance
Or the hate that it can hide.

Pouring from His throne above,
Mercy and grace like water flows
To cleanse the soul of the sinner
And heal he who bore the blow.

We are commanded to bear
No charge against another
And as He has forgiven us,
We must restore our brother.

Who can say he has not sinned,
Nor carried some secret shame?
None dare stand before Holy God,
Unsheltered by Jesus name.

Break the vial of perfume sweet,
Pour it out on His dear feet.
Mercy given, mercy received,
Makes our Savior’s joy complete
