The Fragrance

Have you ever used a cologne or perfume, maybe even a strong lotion, that when you stepped into a shower the next morning, and turned the water on, the fragrance revived? It began to fill up the shower stall with the same scent that was fresh yesterday?

After washing with soap it disappears, so for the new day you apply some more. The next morning, history repeats itself and the shower is once again filled with the scent.

"For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing." 2 Corinthians 2:15

There are times that we may walk past someone and almost stop in mid-stride because we are struck with the fragrance that they are wearing. Something catches our senses and seems to draw us in. A refreshing, smell among the stench of everyday life.

There is a key to keeping this fragrance alive and noticeable, you have to apply it everyday. Once the shower has been turned off and the towel has performed its duty of drying the wet skin, the scent is gone.

The Bible tells us that we are "the fragrance of Christ" to believers and unbelievers alike. But we must take the time to make a fresh application of the scent upon our spirits. There needs to be an inner attractiveness about us. A sweet smell that will cause people to stop and take notice that something very fragrant is pouring from us. The only way that will happen is for us to apply Jesus to ourselves. A fresh anointing of Him from head to toe. A daily washing from the things of this world that we pick up during our walk is needed, but then a fresh application of Him will keep us smelling sweet all day.

Oh, that we would be a people of sweet smelling perfume in the senses of those that need to see Him in us.
