The Goblet

There is a goblet sitting on a table. The table is thick heavy wood with black iron straps holding the lumber in its place. Flickering candles mounted to a massive medal frame produces the only light in the room.

Suddenly, a loud crash breaks the silence of the room. Candles, medal and wood are scattered to every corner of the room. The chain which held this fixture above that table for so long had become to weak to support it any longer. Among the broken pieces lies the goblet, spared by the incident, lying empty on the floor. The candles continue to burn until the wicks and a molten pool of wax is all that remains.

Sooner or later someone will come in the room and notice the mess. The evidence of the event will be gone, the goblet will be cleaned and filled again.

It is not the choice of the goblet when it will be full again.

Our hearts are somewhat like the goblet but our actions cause the destruction which moves the goblet from the table, filled to the rim, to the floor with its contents wasted. God is the one who will clean up the mess.
He will remove all the broken pieces of your life. He will pick up your goblet wash it and prepare it to be filled again. He will pour himself into your goblet and whisper assurance that he will always fill the emptiness in your heart and your life.

Sometimes your goblet just needs to be dumped out so God can fill it up fresh. God is faithful to keep your goblet filled with fresh anointing, fresh love, fresh mercy. Our God is an awesome God.
